The Story So Far...

Mark Williams wanted to be a hero.

Too bad he got what he wanted.

While training to become a vigilante, Mark's learns that his fiance, Andi, has literally stumbled over an ancient relic of Ashtanyaka the Tyranian Warrior Goddess while on her father's archeological dig. He also learns that Andi plans to use an ancient ritual to gain some kind of powers from the relic and has askeds him to accompany her so he could watch her become a hero first.

WARNING: SPOILERS ABOUND BEYOND THIS POINT. If you don't want to spoil the stories, then stop here.

Before Andi can tap into the powers, she and Mark are attacked by the GunGrrls. Mark leaps to knock Andi out of the way of a bullet, and ends up taking her place inside the ritual circle. When the smoke clears, Mark has been transformed into the living embodiment of the Tyranian Warrior Goddess. After saving Andi and Los Angeles and capturing the GunGrrls, he vows to find a way to get his old, male body back so he and Andi can get married. Mark takes on the hopefully temporary name of Marcia and becomes Andi's roommate -- without privileges until "things are back to normal.".

A few months after this ordeal, Fishnet Angel is invited to attend a Halloween charity bash and meets the hero, Arachnid, who becomes a friend. When the event is attacked by Darqueness, a wannabe wizard with the hots for Fishnet Angel, s/he and Arachnid defeat the punk and send him packing.

About a year later, Mark discovers that a bigger plan is in play for the warrior goddess. S/he is invited to visit a dig that features more idols of Tyranian gods and goddesses. Thrilled at the prospect of getting his life back, Mark and Andi take off for Northern Africa. Once there, Fishnet Angel is attacked by Ibn Al-Jinn, one of the U.N. Peacekeepers, who mistakenly assumes that s/he is responsible for the stolen artifacts and the disappearance of Dr. Solomon Sahad. Just as the two heroes get their stories straightened out, both are attacked by Warbringer, the Tyranian God of War. Warbringer defeats them both and captures Fishnet Angel, taking her into his underground lair. When s/he awakens, she learns that she is pregnant with Warbringers child -- the long prophesied tyrant who will bring the splendor of Tyrane back to the world. S/he eventually escapes from Warbringer's lair, but he follows and kills Andi during the battle to reclaim his bride and child. Warbringer then stops fighting and explains to Fishnet Angel that Ashtanyaka wasn't just the goddess of war but of life, just was he was the god of war and death. He shows Mark/Marcia how to bring Andi back to life, then crumbles to dust as s/he watches, confident that he has set the return of Tyrane into motion.

In an effort to further understand his/her role as a hero, Mark/Marcia visits Lake Anderson to speak with the Swan. While there, s/he decides that s/he can't burden anyone else with his/her problems, and decides against telling the Swan the truth about him/him. S/he does however decide to leave Andi to her new love interest, Greg, and start a new life in Cristol City, Oklahoma.

On the way to Cristol City, the bus Fishnet Angel is riding is attacked by a teenager whose powers have gone out of control. In order to subdue the boy, s/he must risk several precious memories of Mark's time with Andi in order to keep the boy's psychic mind preoccupied until she can defeat him. She wins the battle, but only the expense of several memories.

While still on the way to Cristol City, Fishnet Angel is attacked by Ashtanyaka's former lover, Tanayat, who has somehow returned from the land of the dead and is now in control of Warbringers army of insect-like demons. Mark/Marcia is easily overpowered, but manages to escape before passing out in the sewer. When she awakens, she finds herself in a hospital with no memories at all or who she was or is. One of her doctors, Dr. Roger Wade, seems to be hiding something from her. The other, Dr. Olivia Hammond, is more ready to help and informs her that she is really a superhero -- Fishnet Angel. Without her memories of being a hero (or a man), Fishnet Angel must rise to the occassion when an impatient Tanayat sends his demons to attack the hospital and kidnap the doctors. When she finds Tanayat, she must confront not only him, but also the woman whose face has been appearing in her dreams -- Andi, kidnapped also by Tanayat. Still, she's not strong enough to defeat Tanayat, who again overpowers her with ease. Only then does she learn that he two selfs (Mark and Ashtanyaka) have been hiding in the bodies of her doctors, waiting until their own body was strong enough to fight, and Fishnet Angel must say goodbye to both of her past lives and fuse herself, Mark, and Ashtanyaka into one new being in order to finally defeat Tanayat and send him back to the underworld for good.

The newly created Marcia struggles with her three fused identities during the Christmas holidays and looks for help from anyone, only to find herself visited by Tobit's Angel, another U.N. Peacekeeper, who also claims to be real life angel. He allows her to see into the alternate path that would have happened had Mark not become Fishnet Angel in Andi's place -- Andi would have been too weak to contain the power and would have been killed painfully from the inside out. With at least a since of renewed scope, Fishnet Angel returns to her hotel and tries to have a better holiday.

A month later, it seems that there may be another chance to get things back to normal when another idol is discovered in Egypt. This time, Marcia flies alone and visits Aym Geronimo, who is in charge of the dig. But nothing is ever easy, and the idol is stolen by NAME, one of Aym's ex-husband's thugs. In order to save Aym and defeat NAME, Fishnet Angel must let the idol be destroyed, and yet another chance to recovery the past slips away.

After she is finally settled into Cristol City, Marcia visits Mark's old college roommate, Ken Hamilton, now a preacher serving in downtown Cristol City. Marcia can't bring herself to tell him the truth about her past, but does commit to renewing the friendship anyway.

If the future lets anything happy happen to poor Marcia, that is.

And the story continues...
